My Starting a Blog Was Easier in My Head

A little look back at how this messy, beautiful blogging journey began — because every cozy corner has a starting point.

The Reality Behind the Pretty Pictures

Starting a blog sounded simple enough — write some thoughts, hit publish, and magically become one of those organized people with a perfectly curated website. Reality? Not quite.

Before I jump into my story, I do want to give a quick shoutout to Taylor Stanford. She helped guide me through the confusing world of blogging, plugins, settings, and all the little things that can make your brain feel like it’s buffering. Without her help, I’d probably still be staring at a blank screen wondering where to begin.

The Beginning

This blogging journey has been a wild ride already.

I’m not exactly what you’d call tech-savvy. I once tried fixing my computer and somehow made it take a three-hour nap instead. Creating a blog sounded fun in theory — until I realized how many decisions came with it.

Picking a blog name? Pure chaos.

At first, I thought about going with something niche, but I didn’t want to lock myself into one topic forever. Life isn’t one category — it’s messy, random, emotional, funny, stressful, and sometimes completely ridiculous.

That’s how Jade’s Random Thoughts was born.

I wanted a space where I could write about motherhood, home projects, foster care, life lessons, random humor, and all the little moments in between.

How It Is Going

Blogging isn’t hard because of the writing.

The hard part is figuring out what people actually want to read.

There are moments where I wonder if anyone even sees what I post — and then suddenly I’ll check my views and realize people are actually reading. Some days it feels quiet around here — and then I’ll check my stats and realize people really are stopping by.

That may not sound huge to some people, but to me, it felt incredible. Someone out there connected with something I wrote, and honestly, that’s the whole reason I started.

My goal isn’t perfection.

I just want to create posts that make people feel understood — like they’re sitting on the front porch talking with someone who gets it.

What I Would Have Done Differently

If I could go back, I probably would’ve started sooner.

Not because I think I’d be famous by now — but because blogging teaches you by doing.

You learn what works, what doesn’t, and what makes people stop scrolling long enough to stay.

There are still days where I feel like I’m figuring things out one mistake at a time.

But honestly? That’s part of the fun.
I’ve learned that blogs don’t need to be perfect to matter.

People connect with honesty more than perfection.

Wrapping it Up

If you’ve made it this far — thank you.
Blogging has been part creative outlet, part learning experience, and part “what did I just click?” moment.

Some days I feel confident. Other days I feel completely lost.

But overall, I’m glad I started.

This little corner of the internet has become a place where I can share the messy, funny, real parts of life — and maybe help someone else feel a little less alone.

Until next time, have a blessed day.
