Turns Out, Waiting Is a Pretty Big Part of This Journey
If you’ve been following along with my journey of waiting for a foster care placement, you already know one thing…
I’m still waiting.
Yep. Still waiting.
And apparently, I could be waiting for quite a while.
I recently found out that because of where I live, it could possibly take a year or even longer before I get a foster placement.
A YEAR.
Now, that doesn’t mean it will take a year. I could get a call sooner. Foster care is unpredictable, and from what I’m learning, there really is no timeline.
But it did make me realize something.
I have been trying to keep everyone updated on my foster care journey, but if I keep posting updates every other week, eventually my posts are going to look something like this:

And honestly, there are only so many ways I can write an entire blog post about absolutely nothing happening.
So, I’m changing things up a little.
Sooo… I’m Changing How I Share Updates
Finding out that I could possibly be waiting this long made me realize something.
If I keep posting foster care updates every other week, eventually my posts are going to look something like this:

So, I’m changing things up a little.
Instead of posting foster care updates every other week, I’m going to post when I actually have something new to share. If things stay quiet, I may do a little update every few months just to let everyone know where things stand.
And if my phone rings with the call before then?
Well… trust me. I’ll have plenty to write about.
Still Here, Still Waiting for a Foster Care Placement
For now, I’m still open for placements.
I’m still ready.
The supplies are still here.
And life is still moving right along while I wait.
Honestly, waiting for a foster care placement has already taught me that foster care involves a lot of things nobody really talks about.
Including waiting.
A LOT of waiting.
So no, I’m not giving up. Nothing bad happened. I didn’t change my mind.
I just decided you probably don’t need a new blog post every other week that says:
“Hey guys! Just checking in to let you know… absolutely nothing has happened.”
😂
So from now on, foster care updates will come when there is actually something to update… or every few months if the waiting continues.
Until then, I’ll be right here, living life, writing about all my other random thoughts, and trying not to stare at my phone every time it rings.
I may not know when the call will come, but for now, the door is still open.
